Jamaica Inn

On our journey back form Bodmin we drove through Bodmin Moor, stopping at the legendary Jamaica Inn immortalised in Daphne du Maurier's novel by the same name. Built in 1750 the Inn has been a resting place for many travellers, but back in the day was mainly used by smugglers and other unsavoury characters. It has also been featured on Most Haunted, who described it as one of the spookiest programs they ever recorded. The old stables is now a museum of smuggling and Daphne du Maurier and even displays her writing desk. The original bar is still there and open for drink and if you're brave enough you can even stay the night in the coach house.
