The Great Gatsby

We when to see The Great Gatsby on Sunday, I've been looking forward to it for so long as I love Baz Luhrmann's Romeo & Juliet and Moulin Rouge.

I enjoyed the movie and absolutely loved Carey Mulligan's costumes...

Dinner And A Movie

Tuesday night I was treated to dinner and a movie. We discovered that Pizza Express do the most yummy salads. I had Warm Vegetables with Goats Cheese and James had the Bosco... amazing.

We then went to watch Looper, good film, really different story of time travel, very harsh plot and a couple of disturbing scenes. But worth watching... glad we ate first!

There's No Place Like Home

I returned home from Cornwall on Saturday, with an epic 7 hour journey and was greeted by a very happy boyfriend and two very affectionate cats... it was great to be home.

We spent a lovely Sunday together, we took a stroll into Woburn for the monthly farmers market and bought some lovely cheese; one ale and mustard cheddar and a smoked cheddar..yum!

Then we met up with friends for a lovely Sunday roast at Ye Old Swan in Woughton... I had the most amazing nut wellington which was seriously delicious!!

Followed by a trip to the cinema to see Judge Dredd 3D... which was really cool. I know nothing about the story or Jugde Dredd so I went in blind. I really enjoyed the story, the slow motion 3D effects and and amazing end death scene, which considering how gory the film was and how I'm not really into gore the final death was really rather beautiful.

Total Recall

Last night we went to the cinema to watch Total Recall and I loved it. I couldn't remember if I'd seen the original, but now after seeing this I clearly haven't. It was all action from start to finish and I absolutely love the set design and costumes. Really worth seeing.

However, the three movies I've watched this week have made me question how these all action movie girls (heroes and villians) managed to do everything with their hair worn down, when I can't even eat my dinner without tying my hair back!

Terminator

My boyfriends latest bargain purchase was the boxset of the Terminator quadrilogy for only £5, so this week Tuesday and Wednesday evenings were Arnie nights.

I have only seen the first Terminator movie twice because I was very young when I first saw it and I still remember how terrified I was that the Terminator just wouldn't die! And I still struggled to watch the scene where he cuts his eye out even though now, as an adult, I can see just how fake and plastic the face that's being cut into is.

T2, I originally saw in the cinema in the 90s and I loved it, so watching that the following evening was fabulous and as great as I remembered. Really looking forward the rewatching T3 and 4.

Chalet Girl

After recently watching the movie Chalet Girl and actually really enjoying it, I felt the urge to take up snowboarding, in the same way that after I watched the movie Whip It I joined my local Roller Derby team, Rebellion Roller Derby www.rebellionrollerderby.co.uk

Then when an offer from Groupon came along for snowboarding lessons, it believed it was a sign and  that was it,  I was sold! Yesterday was my first ever lesson, which was great and I loved it so much that I booked my second lesson for three weeks time and I even dreamt last night that I was competing  snowboarding competition!

The Imposter

Tonight, to start the bank holiday weekend I went to watch The Imposter, an incredible documentary directed by Bart Layton with stunning cinematography by Erik Wilson (who also did Tyrannosaur).

I went into this film knowing nothing about it... and I feel that really enhanced my experience, but I tend to like to watch movies this way. Throughout the story I was filled with mixed emotions for the main characters, as you get to know each characters through their interviews, allowing you time to draw your own conclusions.

I really loved everything about this film, the story, the characters, the fact that it is a true story, the real interviews, the real people, the quirkiness of the film making, the cinematography and the fact that half way through my jaw hit the floor and my eyebrows hit the roof and stayed there until the movie ended. I enjoyed it in the same way I enjoyed Catfish but it was so much more... Highly recommend!
